FRESNO, Calif. - Bulldogs Continue Action on the Road
Fresno State travels to Oregon this week to face three dual meet opponents from the Pacific 10. The 'Dogs will wrestle Oregon on Friday and Oregon State and Portland State on Sunday. Last season Fresno State beat all three teams, with upsets over Oregon and Oregon State.

The Ducks are 5-6 overall and 2-3 in the Pac-10. Oregon features four nationally ranked wrestlers including No. 19 Brian Watson (141), No. 17 Tony Overstake (157), No. 5 Eugene Harris (165) and No. 15 Eric Webb (Hwt). The Bulldogs are 11-18-1 all-time against the Ducks. The Beavers are 10-6 overall and 6-1 in the Pac-10. Oregon State features four nationally ranked wrestlers. Nathan Navarro is ranked 18th in the 133 division, Casey Horn is No. 11 in the 141 division, Nathan Coy is No. 12 in the 174 division and Jason Cooley is No. 7 in the Hwt. division. The Bulldogs are 11-27 all-time against the Beavers. The Vikings are 7-10 overall and 2-4 in the Pac-10. Portland State has one ranked wrestler, No. 16 Jeremy Wilson in the 184 division. Fresno State is 14-16 all-time against Portland State. Last season the Bulldogs beat the Vikings 32-15.
'Dogs Successful at California Collegiate Invitational
The Bulldogs won the CCI Saturday with 122 points. Fresno State outscored second place Cal Poly by over 40.5 points. The 'Dogs had three individual champions in the 125, 133 and 197 divisions. Stephen Abas (Hayward, Calif.), Derrick Hayes (Seaside, Calif.) and Marcio Botelho (Lemoore, Calif.) all won their respective divisions. Five more Bulldogs took second and two took third in the tournament. Abas got one pin and two technical falls and was named outstanding wrestler of the tournament.
Abas on Track to Set New Win Record
Abas, who has racked up 24 wins this season, needs just one more win to tie the Bulldogs career wins record. Gerry Abas set the record at 134 in 1995.
Fresno State Runs Over Roadrunners
The Bulldogs won a season high 9 matches against Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday, beating the Roadrunners 33-3. Three Bulldogs won by major decision including Abas, Darrick Duran (Fresno, Calif.) and Eddie Gifford (Las Vegas, Nev.). Fresno State improved to 10-6 with the win. Fresno State's lone loser was junior Ralph Lopez (Fresno, Calif.) who lost to Cal State Bakersfield's Ryan Meloche 10-8 in overtime.
