FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State continues its two-game road trip this week with a game at Nevada. The Bulldogs (5-4, 3-1 WAC) and Wolf Pack (5-4, 3-2 WAC) meet on Saturday at noon at Mackay Stadium in a contest with significant bowl implications, with the winner having a leg up in the race for the Silicon Valley Football Classic. The game will be televised locally by KFRE WB 59.
The Bulldogs won their second game in a row with a 20-11 win against SMU. Trailing 5-3 at halftime, Fresno State scored on its first two possessions of the third quarter to take a lead it would never relinquish. The Bulldogs' defense allowed the Mustangs just 273 yards of total offense, created three turnovers and had nine sacks in picking up the team's first road win of the season. Brian Morris led the defensive efforts with three sacks.
Fresno State owns a 20-12-1 all-time lead in the series, which began in 1923. The Bulldogs have won the last four meetings in a row, outscoring Nevada 206-89 for an average score of 52-22. In Reno, Fresno State has a 9-7-1 edge, including victories in the last two games played at Mackay Stadium. Last year, the Bulldogs defeated the Wolf Pack 38-30, and in the last trip to Reno in 2001, Fresno State posted a 61-14 victory.
