FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State wrestling team has canceled its trip to the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 18. Head coach Dennis DeLiddo cited student-athlete conflicts with the tournament due to class finals as the reason the team will not be competing in the event.
The Reno Tournament is a three-day invitational that hosts 16 college and 84 high school wrestling teams. The college portion of the tournament will be held on Thursday, which is also the last day of finals on Fresno State's campus.
DeLiddo said that at least four of the wrestlers who were supposed to compete in Reno have a final on Thursday.
Up next for the 25th ranked Bulldogs is their tri-meet home opener against Columbia, UC Davis and No. 20 Northern Iowa on Jan 3. The meets will be held in the North Gym.
