FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's tennis team cruised past UC Santa Cruz 7-0 on Sunday at the Wathen Tennis Center.
The victory improved the Bulldogs to 11-2 in their last 13 home dual matches since the beginning of last year. Fresno State is now 5-4 on the season.
The Bulldogs, ranked 61st in the nation, started the match quickly by sweeping the doubles. The duo of Hector Almada and Sergiu Modoc improved to 5-0 with an 8-4 win at No. 1 with Ben Bartels and Matt Brunner. All of Almada and Modoc's victories have come in dual matches.
In singles, UC Santa Cruz, ranked No. 4 in the nation in Division III, was no match for Fresno State. Each Bulldog won his match in straight sets, with no player losing more than six games.
Fresno State next takes on UC Davis on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Wathen Tennis Center.
