FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State begins a two-game non-conference swing by hosting Portland State on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs enter this week's contest 2-2 (1-0 WAC) following a 16-6 victory over Louisiana Tech on Saturday. PSU stands at 2-1 (0-1 Big Sky) after falling at home to Northern Arizona 23-0 last week.
Fresno State leads the all-time series 4-0, with the last three contests coming at Bulldog Stadium. The last time these two teams hooked up was in the 1999 season opener, a game won by the Bulldogs 34-6. The Portland State-Fresno State series began in 1968 with a 30-13 victory by the Bulldogs in Portland. In addition to the 1999 game, the two schools also met in 1969 and '97.
Saturday's game will not be televised, the first Bulldog game not to appear on TV since the Utah State contest on Dec. 1, 2001. Fresno State has had its last 19 games televised, including 12 which have been featured on national TV.
