Wrestling Beats Oregon 24-10

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State beat Oregon 24-10 in Eugene, Ore., tonight and improved to 4-6 while winning on the road for the first time this season.
The Bulldogs won seven of 10 matches in their victory, complete with an upset in the 157 division.
Redshirt-freshman Shane Seibert upset Oregon's 19th-ranked Bracamonte by a close 10-8 decision. The first period of the match looked grim for Seibert, who got taken down and put on his back to fall behind 5-1. After escaping, Seibert got taken down one more time to end the period 7-1.
In the next period, the roles reversed as Seibert matched Bracamonte's moves and tightened the score to 7-6. In the last period, Seibert turned Bracamonte to earn three nearfall points. Bracamonte escaped before the match ended, but Seibert got a bonus point for riding time, putting the final score at 10-8.
The Bulldogs began the meet with a 9-1 major decision victory in the 125 division from junior Sal Gonzalez. Fresno State dropped its next match in the 133 division, but bounced back, winning the next three in a row.
Senior Ben Martinez beat Oregon's Mike Roggenkemp 5-1 in the 141 division and 10th-ranked senior, Casey Olson, beat Elliot Tracy 17-6 in the 149 division.
After Seibert's match, the Bulldogs led 14-4.
Oregon narrowed the gap to 14-10 by winning the 165 and 174 divisions, but Fresno State cleaned up the last three for the win.
Wrestling in the 184 division, sophomore Jatinder Singh beat Justin Fisher 13-5 for a Bulldog major decision. Seventh-ranked Marcio Botelho beat Jake Leair 8-4 in the 197 division and 11th-ranked Clint Walbeck beat Cody Parker 8-1 in the heavyweight division to end the meet 24-10.
