No. 25 Wrestling Defeats San Francisco State 34-9

FRESNO, Calif. - Behind dominating performances by the middle and heavy weight divisions, Fresno State snapped a two-match losing streak by defeating San Francisco State 34-9 on Tuesday night at the Save Mart Center.
The match was the first ever wrestling event at the Fresno State's new on-campus arena. It was a prelude to the nightcap and feature contest, which pitted the Bulldogs against second-ranked Iowa State.
The Gators (1-3) jumped out to a 9-0 lead immediately after picking up a decision at 125 then a pin at 133. But beginning with Fresno State's Ben Martinez at the 141 division, the Bulldogs ran off a stretch of eight consecutive wins, including two pins, that put the dual away.
Martinez began the stretch by pinning Chris Osian in 3:53. The win was Martinez's eighth of the year.
No. 12-ranked Casey Olson followed with a workmanlike 4-1 decision at 149 against SFSU's Luke Santos, tying the dual at 9-9. Shane Seibert kept the momentum going at 157 with a pin in 2:56 over Cleveland Barto.
Fresno State (2-2) kept right on rolling at 165, with Sean Sheets grinding out a 6-2 decision over Scott Oda. At 174 and 184, the Bulldogs were very impressive. Anthony Rubalcava picked up a 10-0 major decision victory over Danny Dahl, which was followed by a Greg Gifford technical fall win over Asa Randolph.
Sandeep Singh, filling in for an injured Marcio Botelho, wrestled solidly in getting a major decision win over Chris Bostick. In the final match of the dual, No. 19 Clint Walbeck posting a major decision win over Darren Murphy.
