FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State wrestling head coach Dennis DeLiddo announced his first signee to the 2004-05 recruiting class.
Wade Sauer, a Grass Valley, Calif., native and Nevada High School senior, signed with the Bulldogs to wrestle in the heavyweight division.
Sauer, an accomplished high school wrestler, should make an immediate impact on the team considering his accolades. The high school senior won the California state title in 2004 when he also went 48-3 overall. Sauer won five other tournament titles including the Zinkin Tournament and the Five Counties Invitational.
"I worked really hard to get Sauer and I'm really happy we got him," said DeLiddo. "He's a big guy, he's 6-5, and he's got a lot of potential."
Currently, nationally ranked senior, Clint Walbeck, maintains the starting position at heavyweight for Fresno State.
