Wrestling Wins Sixth Straight Match At Cal Poly 32-12

Frenso, Calif. - Three pins from Fresno State wrestlers helped lead the Bulldogs to 32-12 road victory over Cal Poly on Sunday. The Bulldogs have now won six straight matches as well as winning the All-California Tournament in that time. The win improves the Bulldogs record to 10-6-1 with one dual match remaining.
Cal Poly started off the match ahead as favored Cal Poly wrestler Ryan Halsey picked up a win by fall over Jatinder Singh in the 184-pound match, However, the Bulldogs would respond as Marcio Botelho accepted a forfeit at 197-pounds and Heavyweight Clint Walbeck pinned Arturo Basulto to give the Bulldogs a 12-6 lead.
The lightweights of Cal Poly would win the next two matches to even up the match at 12, but Garrett Spooner would spark a Frenso State run with a pin of Eric Melgares at 141-pounds. The Bulldogs would win all of the remaining matches, including a pin by sophomore Shane Seibert.
Fresno State will travel to UC Davis for their last dual meet before hosting the Western regional, which besides the Bulldogs will include Wyoming, Air Force, Eastern Illinois and Northern Iowa. The regional tournament will be held in the North Gym on March 5th, and determines who will wrestle in the NCAA tournament.
