Junipero Serra, Sacred Heart Claim Small High School Titles

FRESNO, Calif.- The 77th annual Bob Mathias Fresno Relays kicked off Thursday afternoon with the small high schools meet at Warmerdam Field, featuring athletes from throughout California in head-to-head competition.
Junipero Serra High School picked up the men's title, scoring 102.5 points. Bret Harte High School was second with 66, followed by Shafter in third with 62.5. The women's championship was claimed by Sacred Heart Cathedral High School with 60.5 points, while Templeton scored 53.5 in second and Junipero Serra High School checked in third with 53.3.
The Fresno Relays continue on Saturday morning with the university/open competition beginning at 8:30 a.m with the men's hammer throw. Later in the day, the large high schools meet begins at 12:30 p.m. with the men's shot put.
