Berrian Dominates Sprints; 'Dogs Sweep Five-Way Meet

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- Fresno State track and field completed a sweep on both the men's and women's side, going undefeated in a five-way scoring meet on Saturday against host Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, UC Santa Barbara and Sacramento State.
The men totaled five six first-place finishes, while the women recorded three.
Individual highlights on the men's side included the following:
- Chris Berrian, who entered the meet coming off an outstanding performance at the Cal-Nevada Championships, continues to excel in the sprints. Berrian ran a 10.27 in the 100-meters, which qualifies him for NCAA Regionals in the event. Also in a wind-aided 200-meters, Berrian crossed the line in a scorching 20.47 which would stand as Fresno State's best time in school history.
- Leif McMurry qualified for NCAA Regionals as he finished second in the pole vault at 16-6.75 (5.05m).
- Dave Endler, already an NCAA Regional qualifier in the discus, set a personal-best with a toss of 174-6 (53.21m) to win the event.
- Rico Morales and Kenny Moon finished 1-2 in the 400-meter run. Morales ran a 48.67 and Moon checked in at 49.12.
Among the standout performances for the women:
- Andrea Buckner ran a 10:01.55 to lead the field in the 3000-meter run.
- Zinzi Evans captured the title in the 800-meters, crossing the line at 2:12.39.
- Mallory Webb took first in the javelin, as she threw a distance of 151-0 (46.05m). She has already qualified for NCAA Regionals.
Fresno State is back in action next weekend at the Modesto Relays.
