Well it has been go-go-go for the last few weeks, with traveling and school starting again. Finally we are back at home though and preparing for Boise State on Saturday. With a bye tonight, we are enjoying a week of practice to get back together after a long road trip to New Mexico State and Louisiana Tech.
That road trip was our first five-day trip of the season and it has made coming home for the week all the more better. The trip began with a familiar route through good ole El Paso, Texas. We then took a very non-scenic bus trip up to Las Cruces for the first time. It really was not as bad as I thought it would be. There weren't many trees and it seemed pretty dry, but that's probably because the place is basically a desert. I have yet to experience much of that climate or environment, being from the coast of Australia.
However, we did not go to New Mexico to sightsee, we went to show them some Bulldog basketball. And that we did!!! We had some shaky patches during the game but pulled through comfortably despite the rowdy crowd (who by the way, seemed to be fixated on teasing Amy the whole game!) Although we won, we were slightly taken aback by the fact that for a second time in as many months, we had items stolen from us during the game. At halftime we returned to the visitor's locker room, to find that another thief had taken money from some of the girls' backpacks. This also happened to us in our game at San Francisco on Dec. 20. The most astonishing part about the situation was that there were security guards standing outside the door! Anyway we took our anger back out on the court and finished off New Mexico State with a bit more fire.
Next up was Louisiana Tech. It was round two of the fight and it unfortunately proved to be a battle for us. The Thomas Assembly Center was full of screaming fans and the Lady Techsters used it to their advantage. We struggled before making a comeback but it wasn't enough as we let our emotions get the better of us and our gameplan slip out the door. However, it was a lesson to be learned for our team. Right now we have split our season series with Louisiana Tech and that still puts us in a good position to attain our goals for this season.
There are nine WAC games to go in this season and we are looking forward to taking on every one of them with nothing less than our best effort. Luckily for all you Bulldog fans, you can see this team in full force twice in the next week. First up, it's Boise State at 1 p.m. on Saturday and then Idaho on Monday at 7 p.m.
We can't wait to play for you!!!
Go Dogs!
