Fresno State Continues Indoor Season
Women's track and field heads for Flagstaff, Ariz. as the Bulldogs start their scoring season with an indoor dual against Northern Arizona. Fresno State competed in two dual meets last season, winning both. Both of those meets were outdoor meets, and this week's event is held in the Skydome. Following that dual, the Bullldogs are off until the WAC Indoor Championships from Feb. 21-24.
Men On The Road
Fresno State's men's team will see their first action of the year, traveling to the Lee Adams Invitational in Bakersfield. In the individually scored event, the Bulldogs will get their first chance to see which athletes have the potential to step up for the upcoming outdoor season.
At The Air Force
Fresno State participated in their second full meet of the year at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo. last weekend. The Bulldogs finished 8th out of 14 participating women's squads. The Bulldogs set numerous season highs at the event, led by Aspen Marshall, who placed in both the shotput and the weight throw. Roxanne Selick also reached the podium for the `Dogs, putting in a 5:23.99 one mile run, the top Fresno State mark of the year.
Bulldogs Start Season With Weight Pentathlon
The Fresno State throwers also got their start to the season in January, participating unattached at the weight pentathlon at Warmerdam Field, testing their skills in all five throwing events. Katie Richardson took the title, winning the discus and the javelin in the event.
Modeste Tops Bulldogs At Pole Vault Summit
Senior pole vaulter Samantha Modeste had the top performance for the Bulldogs at the 2007 edition of the United States Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nev. in January. In the first NCAA competition for any Fresno State athlete, Modeste skied to a career-best 12-4 (3.75m) to finish third in her group while at the event. Modeste has finished 7th twice in the WAC championships, and is the top returning vaulter for Fresno State.
