FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's tennis team suffered a tough 4-3 loss to conference rival Boise State, Saturday in Boise, Idaho. The defeat snapped Fresno State's seven-match winning streak, dropping the `Dogs to 11-8 on the season.
Fresno State came out strong in doubles, winning the point with victories on courts No. 1 and No. 3. Senior Jakub Cech and freshman Mirko Zapletal beat Luke Shields and Piotr Dilaj 8-4. Sophomore Rudolf Siwy and freshman Taylor Leiby helped the `Dogs clinch the point with a 8-4 defeat of Blake Boswell and Eric Roberson.
In singles, Zapletal beat Dilaj 6-4, 0-6, 7-6 (6) at the No. 3 spot. It was Zapletal's team-leading 15th win in dual matches, and he improved to 19-9 overall on the season.
Freshman Tejesvi Veerepalli also got a victory in singles, beating Steve Robertson 6-4, 6-3.
The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to the final match of the regular season. They head to No. 19 Pepperdine on Monday to make-up the Feb. 7 match that was postponed because of rain.
