Endler, Richardson Lead Way At UCLA Invitational

Westwood, Calif. - Dave Endler added a third NCAA qualifying mark to an already outstanding season, and Katie Richardson won two different events to highlight the Bulldogs' time at the 2007 Rafer Johnson/Jackie Koyner-Kersee Invitational hosted by UCLA. Christina Lopez rounded out the Fresno State winners, taking her section of the women's 200-meter dash.
Endler easily outdid his season-best mark in the discus, beating BYU's Daniel Lawson to get the gold in that event, throwing 53.72m to qualify for the NCAA Regionals in Oregon. Endler had previously qualified to go in the shot put competing at Wamerdam Field on March 24.
Katie Richardson won the women's discus to grab her first individual championship at UCLA. In addition to that victory, she led what has become a common appearance of the tandem of Richardson/Webb at the top of the javelin leaderboard, as she and senior Mallory Webb again took the top two spots in the javelin in a premier West Coast event.
Christina Lopez also had a strong day competing for the Bulldogs, winning her heat in the 200m dash with a time of 24.93. She also finished eighth in the 400. In the women's 100m dash, Rayna White earned runner-up honors with a time of 12.15, just .01 off of her career best. Juan Valdez joined the women sprinters with a big day, finishing with a season-high time in the 400-meter dash of 47.97, inching closer to NCAA qualifying time in that event.
Fresno State also has athletes competing at the Mt. SAC Relays this weekend. Next week, the team will travel to UC Davis for the Woody Wilson Invitational, prior to welcoming back the Aggies for a dual match on Alumni Day, welcoming fans and former track stars for Fresno State's third home event at Warmerdam Field.
