Fresno, Calif. - Fresno State track and field finished competition on the second day of the NCAA Regionals in Eugene, Oregon, as six competitors saw action. Junior Oscar Rodriguez was the top finisher for the Bulldogs on the day, taking 11th place in the shot put with a throw of 17.15m.
Rodriguez joined Dave Endler in one of two events that featured two Fresno State athletes on the second day of competition in Eugene. Endler finished just behind Rodriguez in the shot put, throwing 16.64m to finish in 17th overall.
The other two-person event for the Bulldogs on Saturday was the women's pole vault, where Andrea Greenman and Samantha Modeste both qualified. Modeste did not clear the opening height on Saturday, but Greenman finished in a tie for 23rd, clearing 3.66m (12 feet) for Fresno State's top finish in the event.
Fresno State had two more field athletes competing on the day. Katie Richardson, who also qualified in the javelin, finished tenth in the discus throw, just missing out on a chance for her second straight NCAA appearance, and DeAnte Brown competed in the triple jump, where he finished 13th with a mark of 48'10.25".
Track and Field closes out the season at the NCAA Championships in two weeks, where Mallory Webb will compete in the javelin, looking to earn All-America honors for the third time in her collegiate career. Kellen Kennedy also has a chance to compete after finishing 8th in the long jump at the Western Regionals. At-large berths for the NCAA Championships will be announced prior to the championships, which will be held from June 6-9 in Sacramento, Calif, on the campus of Sacramento State.
