Bulldogs Finish Play in WAC Tournament

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The No. 10/10 Bulldogs struck early against the No. 3 seed Hawa'i in the WAC Tournament but the Rainbow Wahine rallied for a 6-1 victory eliminating the defending champions from the tournament. Fresno State falls to 51-11 on the year and will wait to hear where they play in the NCAA Regionals next week as the selection show is set for Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Haley Gilleland hit a solo home run to center field, her third of the season for an early 1-0 Bulldog lead in the top of the first.
Starting Rainbow Wahine pitcher Kate Robison gave Hawai'i the lead in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run to center field.
Hawai'i scored two more in the bottom of the third for a 4-1 lead. Melloh was replaced in the circle by Ryane Petersen.
Hawai'i added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth with one run for a 5-1 advantage.
The Rainbow Wahine would get one more run in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-1 lead.
The Fresno State softball team will now wait for the NCAA Division I softball selection show is that on Sunday, May 11. ESPNU will televise the 2008 NCAA Division I Softball Selection Show at 7:00 p.m. PST (30-minute show) after the conclusion of the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse First Round Game #8 on ESPNU (scheduled for 4:30-7 p.m. PST).
At the conclusion of the selection show on ESPNU, ESPNEWS will televise a 3-5 minute DI Softball update (bracket announcement) between 7:30-8:00 p.m.
