FRESNO, Calif. - In a conference where there is a lot of pressure placed on the secondary, No. 25 ranked Fresno State will have some talent and depth in 2008.
Three two-year junior starters return in cornerback Damion Owens and safeties Moses Harris and Marvin Haynes. Their experience over the 25-plus games will be beneficial.
Owens is a solid lockdown cover corner, while Harris is the quarterback and hardest hitter of the group. Haynes brings tremendous athletic ability and size (6-1, 205).
The open corner position, vacated by senior Damon Jenkins, will be filled by Sharrod Davis or A.J. Jefferson. Both players saw action last season and have the athletic ability and speed to perform well.
Senior safety Jake Jorde, coming off his first career interception against Georgia Tech, and senior cornerback Will Harding, are both experienced players who will add depth and leadership to the secondary.
Desia Dunn, Frank Manquero, Lorne Bell, Zak Hill, and Jermaine Thomas will also see time in the secondary.
