No. 40 Bulldogs Battles With No. 4 UCLA

FRESNO, Calif. - A thilling 9-8 victory by Fresno State's Remi Boutillier and Rikus de Villiers over UCLA's Matt Brooklyn and Holden Seguso clinched the doubles point, in the No. 40 Bulldogs' 4-1 loss to the fourth-ranked Bruins on Saturday in Los Angeles.
"We had an amazing doubles point with Rikus and Remi clinching it with a 10-8 win," Bulldog coach Jay Udwadia said.
In the singles action UCLA won four-straight matches with Nick Meister clinching the victory for the Bruins with his 6-4, 6-2 win over Boutillier.
The Bulldogs' Mirko Zapletal was beating Brooklyn 6-3, 3-2 when the match was called because of the clinching victory.
"Our guys competed well all weekend," Udwadia said. "We had a good battle against the No. 4 team in the country."
The Bruins now will be invited to the National Team Indoors Sweet 16 in Champlain, Ill. on Feb. 13-16.
The Bulldogs will next host a doubleheader against UC Irvine and UC Davis on Feb. 7.
