`Dogs Knock Off Ducks

Fresno State started the first half of its trip to Seattle right by beating Oregon, 6-1, Saturday.
It had been three weeks since the Bulldogs last competition, when Fresno State took on Pac-10 opponent UCLA on Jan. 31. But the layoff did not hurt the Bulldogs, who came out hungry and looked strong right out the gate.
The Bulldogs clinched the match over on Court 6 where Siddharth Alapati defeated Oregon's Duncan MacDonald-Korth in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Fresno State freshman Remi Boutilier also looked dominant in an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory over Oregon's Ric Mortega on the fifth court.
Rudolph Siwy, Rikus de Villiers and Tejesvi Veerepali also picked up wins for the `Dogs.
"It's nice to finally be in action again," Bulldog coach Jay Udwadia said. "Our guys responded well. We look forward to a good match with the Huskies."
The `Dogs will face the host Washington Huskies tomorrow, then will return home on Feb. 27 to take on San Diego State at 5 p.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
