FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State baseball began preparations for the 2009 season with the first official practice at Beiden Field on Monday. The unusual warm February day made for perfect practice conditions.
"What a great time of year," said head coach Mike Batesole. "We have a beautiful day for our first day of practice and everyone is excited to get a couple practice days under our belts and start playing games."
All 35 members of the team including 14 returners and 21 newcomers hit the field after classes. The team started out with warm-up and moved into defensive drills. After a couple of hours on the field the Bulldogs ended the day in the weight room.
The next two days of practice the Bulldogs scrimmage each other. The media will get their first look at the `Dogs during tomorrow's practice.
