Bulldogs Duel With Cowboys

Fresno State knew the path wasn't going to be easy at the Blue-Gray Classic, and it fought for every point against Oklahoma State, in the Cowboys' 4-1 victory on Thursday in Montgomery, Ala.
"It was a 4-1 match, but it was a battle," head coach Jay Udwadia said. "The doubles point ended up being a huge point for them."
Oklahoma State started out the doubles by winning on court one. On court three, Tejesvi Veerepali and Taylor Leiby battled to the end, but the Cowboy duo of Anton Bobytskyi and Aleksey Bessonov edged them 9-8, to earn the doubles point for Oklahoma State.
In singles Fresno State freshman Remi Boutillier put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Bessonov.
Oklahoma State won the singles matches on courts one, three and six, to clinched the match.
To shorten the length of the tournament, the remaining matches were called off after the Cowboys clinched the match. The Bulldogs were winning in the unfinished matches. Mirko Zapletal was up 7-5, 2-0 and Tejesvi Veerepali was ahead 6-2, 2-3.
"We'll be ready to compete again tomorrow," Udwadia said. "We have another tough match against William & Mary, and we'll come out strong tomorrow."
The Bulldogs match against William & Mary will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. PT.
