NCAA West Regional Comes to Close

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up the 2009 NCAA Western Regional Championships Saturday in Eugene, Ore. The event, hosted by the University of Oregon.
First-year head coach Scott Winsor guided 17 NCAA qualifiers to compete in the event and both the men's and women's squads finished among the Top 20 teams in the west.
As a team, the Bulldog women placed 14th with 15 points. Defending national champion Arizona State easily outdistanced host Oregon for the team title. The Ducks are the reigning NCAA Indoor National Champions.
The Bulldog men finished in 20th place with six team points. USC overpowered first day leader Oregon to win men's team title with 97 points, nearly 17 points more than the Ducks.

Women's 400-meter Hurdle Finals: Fresno State's freshman Latrisha Jordan placed third with a time of 58.17 giving her team six more team points.
Men's 400-meter Hurdle Finals: Kendrick Young ran to a seventh-place finish in the finals with a time of 53.00 and scoring two team points for the Dogs.
Women's 4x400-meter Relay: The quartet of Vanessa Sautebin, Tiera Hilliard, Janev Morris and Latrisha Jordan placed sixth, scoring three team points with a time of 3:42.57.
Men's 4x400-meter Relay: The Bulldog team of Michael Barragan, Kendrick Young, Val-Pierre Dai'Re and Darryl Miller posted a time of 3:14.01 and finished in seventh place, scoring two team points.
Women's Shot Put: Kayla Xavier had a throw of 47-0.25 (14.33m) to finish in 12th place.
Men's Triple Jump: DeAnte Brown scored a team point for the Bulldogs with an eighth place finish in a jump of 50-3.25 (15.32m).
Men's Discus: Tim Greene placed 16th with a throw of 152-10 (46.58m).
Men's Hammer: Junior Tim Greene earned 14th place with a throw of 193-4 (58.93m).
