FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State soccer head coach Brian Zwaschka announced Monday that Jodie Taylor will join the Bulldogs in 2009 as an assistant coach.
Taylor's primary duties with the team are to aid with team and recruiting travel, equipment, alumni relations, camps, recruiting databases, and community service, amongst other program duties. She will also assist with attacking aspects of team and individual play.
"I am very excited to add Jodie Taylor to my staff at Fresno State," said Zwaschka. "Jodie has demonstrated excellence as a player at the NCAA Division I level and on the world stage, being successfully involved at all levels with the English National Team."
Recently, Taylor worked with various age groups of the F.C. Willamette Academy and spent the spring of 2009 as an intern with the Oregon State soccer program.
Taylor played for Oregon State from 2004-07 and was a co-captain during her senior year. In 2004, Taylor earned Pac-10 Freshman of the Year honors and was named All-Pac-10 First Team from 2004-07. She is the all-time goal scoring leader in Beaver history and the only female player to score more than 100 career points.
Taylor spent time playing with the England national team at U17, U19, U21 and U23 levels. She also played with the Ottawa Fury in 2007-08 and Boston Renegades in 2006. While with Ottawa, the team was the W-League Northern Division Champions.
"And though a young coach, she has a veteran, professional approach to the nuance and details that make all the difference at the elite level," Zwaschka said. "She fits the vision I have for the position perfectly. I have no doubt that she will have a unique, positive impact on the young women of this team as a role model and a teacher."
In 2009, Taylor played with the Pali Blues and they were the Western Conference Champions. She tallied seven points this last season with three goals and an assist.
Originally from Wallasey, Merseyside in England, Taylor graduated from Oregon State and obtained her Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Sociology along with a minor in Athletic Administration.
