Runge Honored as NFCA Scholar-Athlete

FRESNO, Calif. - The academic excellence demonstrated by Fresno State's Diane Runge earned national recognition as a 2009-10 National FastPitch Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete.
Runge achieved a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average during the 2009-10 academic year to mark the 29th time a member of the Fresno State softball program has been designated a NFCA Scholar-Athlete.
With her exceptional academic performance, Runge was recognized on the President's List and Dean's List for both the fall 2009 and spring 2010 semesters.
Runge, who is now a sophomore, earned 12 starts and played in 37 games as a freshman outfielder throughout the 2010 season. She also scored eight runs and registered seven hits including one double. Runge (Clovis, Calif.) prepped at Buchanan High School, where she helped the Bears win the 2009 Valley championship in the Tri River Athletic Conference.
To be honored as a NFCA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must post a 3.5 or better GPA for the academic school year.
