FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs traveled to Seattle for the Husky Classic at the Dempsey Indoor Complex. In the second meet of the indoor track and field season, Fresno State enjoyed strong performances on both the track and the field.
Roxanne Sellick put in another solid performance in the 1 mile run Saturday, finishing second overall. The senior outran the other 34 competitors to take silver, clocking in at 4:51.55, just over a half second behind Oregon State's Laura Carlyle in first. The time marks a career indoor best for Sellick.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Vanessa Sautebin, Breeauna Thompson, Latrisha Jordan and Janev Morris combined for a seventh place finish. The foursome timed in at 3:52.57 for seventh among the 15 teams racing. The time moves the Bulldog relay team into second in the conference standings.
Redshirt sophomore Rosario Sanchez placed among the Top 10 in the shot put for the second week in a row. Sanchez tossed the shot 46 feet, 11.50 inches (14.31 meters) to take seventh.
Nancy Vizcarra also marked a solid performance in the throws, excelling in Saturday's weight throw. Vizcarra heaved the 20-pound weight 53-4 (16.23m), nearly setting a new personal best and taking tenth of the 39 competitors in the event.
