FRESNO, Calif. - The 26th-ranked Fresno State men's tennis team finished off the Blue-Gray Classic with a 4-3 victory over No. 54 Oklahoma State on Saturday in Montgomery, Ala.
The Bulldogs won the doubles point with a pair of 8-6 doubles victories, which ultimately proved to be the deciding factor, as both teams picked up three singles wins.
No. 22 Rikus de Villiers and Remi Boutillier knocked off the No. 12 combo in the country - Oleksandr Nedovyesov and Aleksey Bessonov, 8-6. Taylor Leiby and Mirko Zapletal defeated the Maxi Kuhn and Ilija Martinoski by the score of 8-6.
In singles, de Villiers picked up a win over a ranked opponent by beating Anton Bobytskyi, 6-2, 6-1.
Senior Tejesvi Veerepalli and sophomore David Ayoun were also successful in securing victories for the Bulldogs in singles competition, to give the 'Dogs the win.
The Bulldogs will next be in action against No. 42 TCU on March 28 in Fort Worth, Texas.
