`Dogs Remain Unbeaten at Home

FRESNO, Calif. - The 29th-ranked Fresno State men's tennis team maintained its perfect home record to 8-0 by defeating Sacramento State, 5-2, on Saturday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs came out emphasizing the doubles point, as they swept all three doubles matches.
"We had very strong doubles and that gave us confidence heading into singles," Fresno State head coach Jay Udwaida said. "We played a solid match all the way through."
No. 19 Rikus de Villiers and Remi Boutillier picked up a win over a ranked duo, by knocking off No. 72 Kiryl Harbatsiuk and Marko Starcevic.
Also victorious in doubles for the Bulldogs were the duos of Mirko Zapletal and Taylor Leiby and Siddharth Alapati and Tejesvi Veerepalli.
De Villiers started the singles off for the Bulldogs, with his 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Anton Stryhas.
Alapati clinched the match for Fresno State by beating Tim Lantin, 6-3, 6-3.
"It feels good to be back at home and play in front of the home crowd," Alapati said. "It always feels better to win at home."
David Ayoun and Veerepalli also picked up wins in singles action.
Fresno State will finish the weekend with a Sunday match against San Diego at the Wathen Tennis Center at noon.
