FRESNO, Calif. - Rebecca Hall, a talented 5-6 left-handed outfielder, signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Fresno State and compete as a member of the 2011 Bulldog softball team, head coach Margie Wright announced today.
"I think Becca is going to bring a great deal to our program this year," Wright said of Hall. "She's had the experience of playing on a national championship team. With that experience and her hard work ethic, she will be a great addition. She's a wonderful young woman and I look forward to coaching her."
Hall enters Fresno State with two years of eligibility remaining after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Miami Dade College.
Hall, who is originally from Canada, helped power Miami Dade to the 2010 NJCAA national championship. Hall made the final catch to clinch the national title and garnered FCCAA second-team honors as a sophomore this past season. She stole 20 bases out of 26 attempts, hit .361 with 19 runs, drew 23 walks, and drove in 25 RBI in 45 games played. In 2009, she was recognized as a FCCAA All-Southern Conference Honorable Mention winner and received an academic award.
Hall (British Columbia, Canada) prepped at Fraser Heights Secondary School in Vancouver, Canada. During her time at Fraser Heights, she was recognized as the team's most inspirational player from 2005-06 and excelled at national championship competitions by winning gold medals at the 2007 18U Gold Sidewinders Tournament, the 2009 Junior Ladies Provincial Championships and the 2009 Canada Cup (North American Women's Division).
Hall achieved scholastic honor roll accolades and plans to pursue a career in medicine.
Fresno State returns to the diamond in February to start their run for a 30th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
