Bulldogs Achieve Victory over Dons

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 28 Fresno State made a resonating statement with a 6-1 win in its first dual match of the season against USF on Sunday.
The match was the Bulldogs home opener and wanted to set a high-energy tone for the match and did so by sweeping the doubles competition.
Competing on court one the ever-powerful duo No. 21 Rikus de Villiers and Remi Boutillier took on Thai Tu and Will Schumacher. Taking an early victory the Bulldogs added another victory to their resumes as they beat the Dons 8-4.
Newly paired doubles team Jean-Charles Diame and newcomer, Francis Alcantara kept the momentum alive by defeating the USF doubles team, Mark DeCastro and Richard Bucalem, 8-1.
Also paired for the first time together, Siddharth Alapati and Nick Papac battled every point to the end against Jacob Hartwig and Ola Bakke. Fresno State took home the victory, 8-6.
In singles the Bulldogs were just as successful only dropping one match.
Competing in their first dual match as Bulldogs, Papac, Alcantara and Diame triumph the Dons and earn the wins.
No. 69 Boutillier played on court two against Bakke. The junior Dog won the first set 6-3, and after staring from behind in the second set, pulled through and was victorious, 6-4.
De Villiers also brought home a win in singles action for the Bulldogs.
