Dogs Finish Invite on Positive Note

BERKELEY, Calif. - Starting the day off with singles, the Bulldogs battle it out with the No. 64 ranked Cal Poly Mustangs.
Earning her second singles win of the weekend, Bianca Modoc pushed Cal Poly's Jocelyn Davis to a tie breaker the first set and coming out with the win, 7-6(4). She kept the momentum going as she earned the win the second set, 6-3 and won the match.
Earning her first singles victory for the weekend, Laura Pola was matched with the Mustang's Florence Lehane. In the two sets, Pola pulled ahead and kept her drive alive and the match, 6-2, 6-3.
Finishing the weekend in doubles, the Bulldogs compete against No. 10 ranked California.
Keeping their winning streak alive, doubles partners Abby Hayley and Olga Kirpicheva were victorious over California's Stephany Chang and Alice Duranteau, 8-3. The doubles team won two matches at the 2010 Bulldog Classic in November.
Pola and Marianne Jodoin kept the energy alive but fell short in the end to the Golden Bears No. 10 doubles team Jana Juricova and Mari Andersson, 8-4.
"This was a very positive weekend for us," head coach Simon Thibodeau. "It was great preparation for the start of our season."
The Bulldogs return home on Feb. 3 at noon, for the their spring season home opener against the Saint Mary's Gaels.
