Senior forward Hayley Munro scored 14 points, as the Fresno State women's basketball team fended off a late charge by New Mexico State on Monday night at the Pan American Center.
The Bulldogs have now won four consecutive games but still find themselves in second place in the WAC title race with four regular-season games to play. Freshman point guard Taylor Thompson added 13 points and three steals for Fresno State (19-7, 10-2 WAC), while senior forward Taja Edwards notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Aggies (11-15, 5-7) climbed to within four points with 3:17 remaining in the game, but the Bulldogs managed to keep them at bay, despite shooting just 29 percent from the floor. Fresno State, the nation's leading 3-point shooting team was just 6-for-32 from 3-point range.
Senior guard Jaleesa Ross had 10 points and four assists.
With the win, the Bulldogs' senior class of Emma Andrews, Marnique Arnold, Edwards, Munro and Ross became the winningest class in Fresno State history. The group now has 91 victories to its credit, surpassing the class of 2007.
