Dogs Earn Three Points but Drop to UNLV

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 31 Fresno State (4-5) fell to future Mountain West Conference opponents UNLV, 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas.
The Rebels took an early lead over the Bulldogs sweeping on all courts in doubles and earning the point.
Earning an early victory in singles, Francis Alcantara a freshman from the Philippines brought in the first point for the Dogs. Sweeping the UNLV's sophomore Bernard Schoeman in the first set and allowing him only four games in the second set, Alcantara advanced his resume to 5-3.
On court No. 2, No. 89 Remi Boutillier earned the second point for Fresno State defeating the Rebels' freshman Tasas Batyi, 6-3, 6-3 advancing his spring 2011 record to 6-3.
Jean-Charles Diame was the final match to complete Friday afternoon and the final point earned for the Dogs. Dropping the set to the Rebels' Rene Ruegamer, Diame rallied back and took the match to a super tiebreaker and earned the final two points for the win, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8).
The Dogs stay at Las Vegas tomorrow and compete against No. 58 Arkansas at 11 a.m.
