
Outdoor Track Has Strong Showing

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's track and field team participated in its first outdoor event of the season at the Cal Outdoor Opener in Berkeley, Calif. with some strong individual showing Saturday.

The meet, at Edwards Stadium on the campus of Cal, featured teams from Cal, Stanford, UC Davis and Cal Poly.
In the men's sprints, Cameron Parker had a strong showing, finishing in second in the 100-meter and the 200-meter. In the 400-meter Jordan Walker and Wilita Snguma finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Eric Battles finished fourth in the 1500-meter and Daniel Williford finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles. In the men's hammer throw, Gabriel Acero finished third and Raul Gonzales played fourth and Kory Stephens finished fourth in the javelin.
On the women's side, Rosario Sanchez won the shot put with a throw of 15.28-meters. Sanchez won the WAC Indoor shot put title last week with a throw of 15-31-meters.
Jacqueline Vazquez finished fourth in the javelin and freshman Meagan McKee finished fourth in the hammer throw. McKee also finished third in the discus and Rebecca Crouse finished fourth.
Annie Bledsoe finished third in the 400-meter hurdles and Erin Morris finished second in the 100-meter hurdles.
Fresno State was resting several key member of the women's team, after wrapping up the indoor season last week at the WAC Championships.
The Bulldogs return to the track on Saturday, March 12 when they host Cal Poly in a dual meet at Warmerdam Field on the Fresno State campus.
