FRESNO, Calif. - On Saturday afternoon, Fresno State Athletics is holding its 8th Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Day during the Bulldogs' WAC doubleheader with San Jose State.
"I believe strongly that athletics and sports is a great avenue to not only compete but also bring issues that affect everyday lives to the forefront," head softball coach Margie Wright said. "My hope in doing this is to keep another family from the devastation that my family and I have shared because of domestic violence."
The loss of Wright's sister, who was a victim of domestic violence, has forever impacted Wright and her family.
In memory of Wright's late sister and all who have suffered from domestic violence, the Bulldogs will wear purple Fresno State jerseys for the first time and the first 100 fans through the gates on Saturday will receive a free purple Fresno State with the phrase "Leave the Hitting on the Field - Fresno State Against Domestic Violence" in white text.
