Dogs Become Champs on Senior Night

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 39 Fresno State men's tennis team (14-8, 6-0 WAC) finished its Western Athletic Conference weekend of play with a victory over New Mexico State Aggies, 5-1 at the Wathen Tennis Center. This victory allowed the Dogs to clinch the WAC regular season champs title. Fresno State earned the doubles point and went on to achieve victory on courts one, two, three and six. The Dogs advanced their conference record to 6-0 and are the only undefeated men's tennis team in the WAC.
Seniors Siddharth Alapati and Rikus de Villiers were honored at today's match as they competed for the final time on their home courts.
The Bulldogs established an early advantage over the Aggies and earned the doubles point.
No. 94 singles player Remi Boutillier competed on court one and defeated the No. 64 singles player Arthur Surreauz, 7-5, 7-6. De Villiers kept the high momentum alive and dominated over Brouleau on court two, 6-3, 6-4. In a two straight-set victory, Jean-Charles Diame defeated the Aggies' Orlando Superlano, 7-5, 7-5. With these points the Dogs ruled over the Aggies and earned their sixth conference victory.
The Dogs travel to Boise, Idaho in two weeks to compete in the WAC Tournament. Fresno State is currently the only undefeated WAC team.
