FRESNO, Calif. - No. 39 Fresno State men's tennis team (13-8, 5-0 WAC) continued Western Athletic Conference domination Saturday afternoon defeating the No. 52 Boise State Broncos, 5-2 at the Wathen Tennis Center. Fresno State dropped in doubles but rallied back in singles and earned victories on all courts but one. The Dogs advanced their conference record to 5-0 and still remain the only undefeated team in the WAC.
The Dogs started the day a little slow being swept in doubles but that didn't stop them from almost sweeping the Broncos in singles.
Earning one for the Dogs, Rikus de Villiers defeated the No. 120 nationally ranked singles player, Damian Hume on court one in a straight-set match, 6-3, 6-1. No. 94 Remi Boutillier continued his WAC domination on court two, defeating Filipp Pogostkin, 6-1, 6-2 and pulled the Dogs ahead of the Broncos.
Nick Papac triumphed over the Broncos' Jeff Mullen, 6-2, 6-4 on court five and David Ayoun earned a solid lead over opponent Nathan Sereke, 6-1, 6-1.
The Broncos earned their point on court three.
