Bulldogs Down Spartans

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's basketball team won its fifth-straight game by double-digits on Thursday night. The Bulldogs beat rival San Jose State 76-49 to improve to 4-0 in Western Athletic Conference play and 16-4 overall.
Four games into the WAC season, the `Dogs on average are defeating opponents by 22.6 points. All four WAC games have been won by 18 points or more.
The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Ki-Ki Moore, who scored 19 points and grabbed four steals. Also scoring in double-digits was freshman Alex Sheedy with 16, Rosie Moult and Madison Parrish added 13 points each. Sheedy also led the team with seven boards and recorded a block.
Defensively, the `Dogs held WAC leading scorer Brittany Johnson to 10 points. She came into the game averaging 19.2 points per game and is the 21st leading scorer in the nation.
Fresno State forced SJSU to turn the ball over 32 times and recorded 19 steals. Sophomore Taylor Thompson led the team with six steals.
A Second half 16-5 run that gave the `Dogs a 24 point lead over the Spartans. Moore recorded 12-of-19 points in the second half. Sheedy and Parrish also had a big second half each scoring 10 points.
The Bulldogs went on a 13-6 run with 13:58 left in the first half to pull ahead of San Jose State 20-12. The `Dogs ended the half with a 3-pointer from Thompson that gave Fresno State a 10-point lead heading to halftime.
Moult led all scorers in the first half with 11 points. The Bulldogs caused the Spartans to turn the ball over 17 times and only gave the ball up with five times in the first half.
Fresno State remains the only undefeated team in conference at 4-0. The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 28 against Hawai'i at 7 p.m. in the Save Mart Center.
