Bulldogs Defeat Dons, 5-2, in Rematch

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The No. 33 Fresno State men's tennis team beat San Francisco, 5-2, on Monday.
The Bulldogs (7-1) earned the doubles point over the Dons (1-7) with wins from the No. 1 and 2 doubles teams.
No. 1 doubles team Remi Boutillier and Francis Alcantara earned the first point for the `Dogs against San Francisco's Jonathon Knowlman and William Schumacher, 8-4. At No. 3 doubles Jean-Charles Diame and Sai Kartik Nakireddi fell to Germain Bahri and Jacob Hartwig, 8-1, to tie it up. The No. 2 doubles duo, Zachary Leslie and David Ayoun clinched the point for the Bulldogs shortly after, beating Richard Bucalem and Bernardo Saraiva, 8-5.
In singles, No. 19 Boutillier earned the first Bulldog win at No. 1 singles when the Dons' Schumacher retired from the match, 6-4, 3-0. At No. 3 singles, Diame bested the Dons' Johan Samuelsson, 6-2, 6-1. No. 45 Alcantara clinched the win at No. 2 singles with his victory over Bahri, 6-4, 6-2.
At No. 4 singles, Leslie fell to SF's Bucalem, 6-4, 7-6. In a back-and-forth battle at No. 5 singles, Ayoun defeated Saraiva, 6-2, 4-6, (10-6). Freshman Reid DeLaubenfels fought hard for the `Dogs at No. 6 but was unable to pull out a win against Hartwig, 7-5, 3-6, (12-10).
The `Dogs come home to face-off against UNLV on Sunday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
