Bulldogs Fall 4-1 at No. 36 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. -- The Fresno State men's tennis finished off a grueling week of competition, going 2-2 on the road against ITA Top 75 teams after falling 4-1 on Tuesday to No. 36 Stanford at Taube Family Tennis Center.
"I'm proud of the team's effort today as they laid it all out on the line against the No. 36 team in the country. We were right there and had chances to win several of the matches," head coach Evan Austin said.
The Cardinal (13-4) grabbed the early lead, winning the doubles point with 6-2 and 6-3 scores on Court Three and Court Two.
Stanford took a 2-0 advantage with the opening point of singles play as No. 100-ranked John Morrissey defeated Sai Kartik Nakireddi 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 match. Adam Glynn responded on Court Four for the `Dogs (13-9) with a straight-set win of his own, besting Maciek Romanowicz, 6-2, 6-3.
Yale Goldberg put the Cardinal back up by two with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Youssef Hassan at No. 6. Stanford then clinched the dual match as No. 41 Tom Fawcett defeated Nikolas Papic at No. 1 in three sets, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1.
The Bulldogs will return home to finish out the regular season with three consecutive home matches. The `Dogs will begin the final stretch by hosting conference foe Boise State on April 12 at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center at 11 a.m., PT.
