No. 5 Bulldogs set for first home competition of the season, receive UEC honors

The Fresno State equestrian team will face No. 7 TCU on Friday at 11 a.m. PT at the Student Horse Center; Taylor Brown and Kylina Chalack have been named UEC Riders of the Month
FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 5 Fresno State equestrian team is set for its first home competition of the 2016-17 season as the Bulldogs host No. 7 TCU on Friday at 11 a.m. PT at the Fresno State Student Horse Center. The meet will air live and for free on the Mountain West Network.

The 'Dogs are 8-9 all-time against the Horned Frogs, but 5-1 when competing in Fresno. The last time the two teams met, TCU came out ahead with a 14-6 victory in Springtown, Texas on Feb. 5, 2016. As far as home openers, the Bulldogs are 6-4 in their last 10 and are looking to win their second-straight.

Fresno State (4-1) currently has the most wins in the country and jumped up four spots in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) rankings last week after defeating then-No. 1 Auburn 11-5 on Oct. 7. The rankings that came out on Tuesday this week showed no changes among the top 10 teams.

Brown, Chalack named UEC Riders of the Month for September
Senior Taylor Brown and junior Kylina Chalack have been named United Equestrian Conference September Riders of the Month. Brown earned her honors in both Reining and Co-Horsemanship after going undefeated in both events last month. Chalack was honored for her performances in Equitation on the Flat.

New Mexico State's Karianna Knezevich and Katlynn Crine earned recognition as Equitation Over Fences and Co-Horsemanship UEC Riders of the Month, respectively.

Brown and Chalack were honored as NCEA September Riders of the Month last week. Brown is currently undefeated in Horsemanship and Reining this year with a combined 10 wins and nine Most Outstanding Player accolades. Chalack has an overall record of 7-2-1 in Equitation on the Flat and Equitation Over Fences with one MOP.
