• On Saturday, the 'Dogs will look to bring home "The Valley Trophy", a traveling rivalry trophy between the schools that was created in 2013. It is currently in possession of the Spartans thanks to their 16-14 victory last season at Bulldog Stadium.
• Fresno State's series with San Jose State dates back to 1921 and is the longest-running series the Bulldogs have against any other school in the country. The Bulldogs hold the all-time advantage, 40-37-3.
• The Bulldogs have started Mountain West play 1-0 for the first time since 2014, each time the 'Dogs have opened MW play with a win since joining the conference, they ended the season as the conference champion or in the championship game.
• Fresno State made a change at quarterback last time out, bringing in Oregon State transfer and Dinuba, Calif. native Marcus McMaryion. He is the first Bulldog QB to earn a win in his starting debut in the MW era.
• Six Bulldogs saw their first career starts vs. Nevada, bringing the season total to 13 to have received their first starts at Fresno State.
• With the first-time participation of Richard Cage last time out, 34 Bulldogs have now seen their first game action while at Fresno State this season.
• Stat to watch: the Spartans enter the game with the 126th ranked rush defense in the nation, allowing 290.0 yards per game, Fresno State has not reached 290 yards rushing or more in a game since Sept. 20, 2014.
• With seven turnovers gained through four games, Fresno State is on pace to surpass its turnovers gained total from each of the past three seasons (9 in 2016; 20 in 2015; 20 in 2014).
