‘Dogs cruise on opening day of Cal Winter Invitational

Four Bulldogs finish day one unblemished.
BERKELEY, Calif. – Fresno State wrapped up day one of its spring season on Friday, picking up eight wins on the first day of the Cal Winter Invitational.
The Bulldogs claimed three out of four wins in doubles play against Cal Poly, as the teams of Georgia Lawson and Emma Wilson, and Ndindi Ndunda and Olivia Noble each easily dispatched their opponents, 6-1 and 6-2 respectively.
During singles play in the afternoon, finished 6-2 overall, and 5-1 against Saint Mary's. Three of Fresno State's top five players each won in straight sets. Sophomore Katerina Stloukalova and freshman Alessia Dario had thequickest wins of singles play. Stloukalova defeated Hind Abdelouahid, 6-4, 6-2 while Dario bested Grace Olyphant 6-3, 6-4.
Play will continue on Saturday with one round of singles and one round of doubles for each of the four teams in the field.
