Fresno State will open its 2018 dual season on Saturday as the Bulldogs host Sacramento State. Doubles matches begin at 11 a.m. with singles to follow.
Looking at the matchup:
- Fresno State returns seven of its eight players from a season ago, including its top four in singles wins. That group includes the 2017 Mountain West Freshman of the Year, Katerina Stloukalova, who led the team with 24 singles wins. Junior Emma Wilson and sophomore Juliane Triebe each finished the 2016-17 season with 23 singles victories. The Bulldogs' lone addition to this season is freshman Alessia Dario who leads the team with a 14-6 record since joining the squad in the fall.
- Sacramento State has been off since November as Saturday marks their first dual match of the spring. The Hornets return five players from last season including their No. 1 player and two-time All-Big Sky first team selection Ana Loaiza Esquivias who is 30-2 in her career in the Big Sky.
- Fresno State owns a 14-4 all-time record against Sacramento state, having won the last five matchups with identical 6-1 scores.
Next up:
Fresno State will travel to Durham, North Carolina next weekend to face No. 12 Duke in the first round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Depending on results, the Bulldogs will face either No. 21 LSU or No. 36 Washington the following day.
