'Dogs start the season 2-0

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State men's tennis team kicked off its 2018 season with wins over Pacific and UC Davis. The Bulldogs did not give up a singles match on the day.

The Bulldogs improve to 2-0 on the season.

AGAINST PACIFIC
Doubles – The Bulldogs picked up a win at No. 2 when Cem Erturk and Cagatay Soke defeated their opponent 6-3.

Tigers picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to get the doubles point, taking a 1-0 lead into singles play.

Singles – Mantas Bugailiskis blew passed his opponent in straight sets (6-1, 6-2), tying the match 1-1.

Soke gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead after defeating his opponent at the No. 6 position 6-1, 6-3.

Fresno State took a 3-1 lead when Erturk defeated his opponent on court No. 5 (6-1, 6-4).

The match was clinched at the No. 2 position when Zdenek Derkas fought back from a one-set deficit to win in three sets (0-6, 6-3, 6-2).

The matches at the No.1 and No. 4 position were left unfinished.

Singles – Bugailiskis finished with a win for the Bulldogs at court #2 in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Bugailiskis went 2-0 at the No. 2 position on the day.

Jeremy Moser gave Fresno State a 2-1 lead when he defeated his opponent at the No. 4 position 6-3, 6-3.

On court #2, Derkas got his second win of the day by defeating his opponent 6-4, 6-3.

The Bulldogs cliniched the match at the No. 6 position when Soke defeated his opponent 7-5, 6-4.
