Bulldog seniors earn points in 13-3 loss to SMU in UEC Championship finals
DALLAS, Texas - The No. 3 seed Fresno State equestrian team fell to No. 1 seed SMU, 13-3 in the UEC Championship final on Saturday afternoon at the Dallas Equestrian Center.
Seniors Kylina Chalack, Rachel Williams and Taylor Dixon were the three Bulldogs to earn points in the competition.
SMU opened up the day with a 4-0 sweep in the fences event for an early advantage.
Fresno State earned its first point in the horsemanship from Williams who defeated her opponent 151-136. SMU took the event 3-1 for a 7-1 lead at the halftime break.
The Mustangs kept their scoring run alive in the flat defeating the Bulldogs 3-1. The lone Bulldog point was earned by Chalack in a 157-144 victory.
SMU finished the meet with a 3-1 victory in the reining. Fresno State's point came from Dixon in a 144-140.5 ride.
Fresno State finishes second in the UEC behind SMU. South Dakota State finishes third after defeating UT-Martin by a raw score of 2267.25-1894.00 in the consolation bracket.
WHATS NEXT- The Bulldogs now set their sights towards competing in the NCEA National Championship on April 18-21 in Waco, Texas.
