Bulldogs travel to Texas for NCEA National Championship on Wednesday
WACO, Texas - The Fresno State equestrian team will travel to Waco, Texas for the 2018 NCEA National Championship beginning on Wed., April 18.
Although not one of the eight teams selected to compete for the NCEA National Team Championship, the 'Dogs will compete in the newly expanded NCEA National Championship format that will compete for four event titles. Event rankings were determined by statistics (Win/Loss; Home/Away; Current Rank of Opponent) of regular season head-to-head competition.
Fresno State was ranked in all four events:

ÂEquitation over Fences
The No. 9-seeded Fresno State equestrian team will face the No.8-seed UT-Martin in the first round of competition for the fences event.
The fences event is slated to begin at 6:30 a.m. PT at the Extraco Show Pavilion in Waco, Texas on Wed., April 18.
The winner of the event will move on to face the No.1-seed Texas A&M in the quarterfinals on Fri., April 20.
ÂLast time against UT-Martin in Equitation over Fences
Fresno State faced UT-Martin in the first round of the United Equestrian Conference Championships on March 30 as the 'Dogs earned a 10-6 victory to advance to the finals.
The Bulldogs took the fences event 3-1, earning points from seniors Kylina Chalack, Paige Pastorino and Sierra Swaffar.

Bulldogs in Equitation over Fences
The 'Dogs have chalked a 26-39-1 record in the fences this season with five MOP honors overall.
Chalack leads the team with a 7-5-1 personal record, with one MOP. Swaffar follows with a 6-8 record and two MOP accolades while junior Alexandra Dirickson contributes with a 5-5 mark of her own.
Chalack was named to the 2017-18 UEC Equitation over Fences All-Conference team prior to the UEC Championships in March.
ÂReining
In the reining, the No.12-seed Fresno State equestrian team will face No.5-seeded Texas A&M at the Extraco Coliseum beginning at at 6:30 a.m. PT on Wed., April 18.
The winner of the event will face the winner of No.4 SMU and No.13 West Texas A&M in the quarterfinals on Fri., April 20.

Last time against Texas A&M in the Reining
Fresno State met with Texas A&M twice in the 2017-18 season.
The Bulldogs opened up their season with a 14-5 loss to the Aggies on Sept. 22, 2017. Of its five points, three of Fresno State's points came from the reining. Senior Taylor Dixon and sophomores Paige Barton and Shea Gilson earned their points in rides that were determined by five points or less. Barton earned the MOP in the event with a 70.5-65 victory over Darby Gardner.
The programs met again on Feb., 3, 2018 where the Aggies took the reigning event 3-2. Senior Hailey Robison and Barton earned the 'Dogs points. Barton picked up another MOP honor against Texas A&M with a 68-67.5 ride.
On the season, the Bulldogs and Aggies are tied 5-5 in the reining event.
ÂBulldogs in Reining
Fresno State has a team record of 26-38-2 with four MOPs in reining.
Barton leads the team with a 10-3-1 mark and three MOP honors. Dixon and Gilson each come in with five wins a piece and junior Kara Gustafson follows with a 4-7 record and one MOP.
Barton received NCEA First-Team All-American honors in the reining as announced by the organization in April. Barton also earned the 2017-18 UEC Reining Rider of the Year award and was named to the UEC Reining All-Conference team. The sophomore was recognized by the UEC earlier this season when she was named the Reining Rider of the Month for September and February.
ÂEquitation on the Flat
No.9 Fresno State will take on No.8 UT-Martin in the Equitation on the Flat on Wed., April 18 at the Extraco Show Pavilion. Riding is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. PT.
The winner will face No.1 Georgia in the quarterfinals on Fri., April 20.

Last time against UT-Martin in Equitation on the Flat
The Bulldogs have been evenly matched with the Skyhawks in the flat event this season, ending with 2-2 finishes after each meeting in the 2017-18 season.
First the first matchup on Nov. 9, 2017, junior Brooke Nelson and Swaffar earned their points for the 'Dogs. Swaffar picked up MOP honors in the flat with a 85-75 victory over Abbie Hopkins. Nelson saw the biggest advantage of the event with a 81-67 win against Claire Ottinger.
When the 'Dogs and Skyhawks met again in the UEC Championships this spring, Chalack and Dirickson picked up the Bulldog points in a 2-2 tie. Chalack defeated her opponent 138-102 while Dirickson earned her point on a 135-117 ride.
Bulldogs in Equitation on the Flat
Fresno State has a team-high number of wins in the flat event with a 28-33-5 mark on the season and five MOP accolades.
Swaffar leads the team with a 7-6-1 record and two MOP honors. Dirickson follows with six victories and one MOP while Chalack and Nelson have contributed five points each. Nelson and sophomore Natalie Wendt have each earned MOP awards.
Horsemanship
The No.9-seeded Fresno State equestrian team will compete against No.8-seeded South Dakota State in the horsemanship event on Wed., April 18 at the Extraco Coliseum. Competition is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. PT.
The winner of the match will move on to face No.1 Georgia in the quarterfinals on Fri., April 20.
Last time against South Dakota State in Horsemanship
The 'Dogs met with the Jackrabbits twice this season. On Sept. 23, 2017, Fresno State dominated SDSU, 17-2 in a record setting competition. The Bulldogs swept the horsemanship event, 4-0 with points from senior Rachel Williams, juniors Taeya Harle and Katelyn Altenhofel and sophomore Julia Kelly. Harle earned the MOP with a 76.5-75 win over Jordan Gates.
South Dakota State answered back in its next meeting with Fresno State and took the horsemanship event, 3-1. Taeya Harle earned the lone Bulldog point and the MOP with a 73.5-71.5 ride against Whitney Vesey.
Fresno State has a 5-3 advantage over South Dakota State in the horsemanship this season.
Bulldogs in Horsemanship
The Bulldogs have a team record of 26-33-7 in the horsemanship event this season. The horsemanship team has earned seven MOP honors total, Harle has earned four, Williams picked up two and Dixon earned one.
Harle leads the Bulldogs with an 8-4-2 record this season and Williams follows with a 6-7-1 mark.
Harle garnered NCEA honorable mention honors this season after earning the United Equestrian Conference Horsemanship Rider of the Year award and being named to the UEC Horsemanship All-Conference team.
