SAN FRANCISCO – The Fresno State men's tennis team kicked off its fall season at the 10th Annual Battle of the Bay Classic. Mantas Bugailiskis and Cagatay Soke competed for the Bulldogs in singles and doubles over the weekend.
The field featured No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 4 Stanford, No. 7 TCU, No. 12 USC, No. 15 Texas, No. 18 Georgia, California, San Diego State, San Francisco, UC Santa Barbara, San Diego and Pacific.Â
"Battle of the Bay was an amazingly ran event," said head coach Luke Shields. "It featured three of the top five players in the country. Cagatay had a really solid tournament picking up three quality wins. He really came up clutch in tight situations. He was calm and composed in the big moments. Mantas made it to the round of 16. This is the best he's ever been at this point in the year. If he can be consistent with this he will have a break out year. It was a successful and really solid start to the year for us."
