Cabell & Lavalle place top three at 2019 Dave Schultz Memorial International

Valley Regional Training Center athletes Blaize Cabell and Joey Lavalle each placed in the top three at the 2019 Dave Schultz Memorial International on Saturday in Colorado Spring at the Olympic Training Center.
FRESNO, Calif. - Valley Regional Training Center athletes Blaize Cabell and Joey Lavalle each placed in the top three in their respective weight classes at the 2019 Dave Schultz Memorial International on Saturday in Colorado Spring at the Olympic Training Center.
Cabell took second at 92 kg./202.8 lbs. defeating Kevin Beazley by a major decision, 14-10 in the semifinals before falling to Ty Walz in the finals, 11-0. Lavalle, a 2017 All-American at Missouri, topped his former Tiger teammate Lavion Mayes, a three-time All-American, in a pair of matches to earn bronze at 74 kg./163.1 lbs.

Additionally, Fresno State Wrestling volunteer assistant coach Joe Colon and assistant coach Jason Chamberlain each wrestled at the 2019 Ivan Yariguin Memorial International Tournament earlier in the week. Colon went 1-1 at 61 kg./134.5 lbs. and Chamberlain posted a 1-2 mark at 70 kg./154.3 lbs. as each saw their first international action in 2019.
