Fresno State drops road match to New Mexico, 4-1

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Fresno State men's tennis team fell to New Mexico, 4-1 at the McKinnon Family Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
Fresno State falls to 11-9 (1-1 MW) this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles – Fresno State had a new doubles lineup with Zdenek Derkas and Patrik Pech at the No. 1 position, Mantas Bugailiskis and Cem Erturk at the No. 2 position along with Angus Bradshaw and Cagatay Soke at the No. 3 position.
New Mexico started the match strong in doubles play. Bugailiskis and Erturk battled back from a 4-1 deficit, but the comeback fell short as the Lobos took the win 6-4. New Mexico clinched the doubles point at the No. 3 position with a 7-5 victory.
The Lobos took a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Singles – New Mexico extended its lead to 2-0 when Erturk was bested 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 4 position. The Lobos took a 3-0 lead at the No. 2 position, Bradshaw fell to his opponent 6-2, 6-1.
Derkas kept the Bulldogs in the match defeating his opponent 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 position to put Fresno State on the scoreboard.
The match was clinched at the No. 5 position when Soke fell in a three-set battle 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
